Population

Being a bedroom community as part of the Tampa Bay Area, having Clearwater as a neighbor to the north, and being the third biggest city in the most densely populated county in Florida, which is Pinellas County, residents are able to be part of a growing population that had a 2014 Census estimate of 84,500, which was a substantial increase from the 69,371 people in the 2000 Census.

Climate

Located on the Pinellas Peninsula, Largo’s climate is moderated by its proximity to Tampa Bay and to the Gulf of Mexico. Winter temperatures are warmer than on mainland Florida, and most of the rainfall comes in the summer months when the sea breeze carries moisture inland from the Gulf.

National Arbor Day Tree City

Largo has been named one for the 17th year in a row. Benefits of this national recognition program for a community include (1) that just three additional trees planted around every United States building could possibly save as much as $2 billion annually in the costs of energy, (2) trees create a healthier environment, (3) education of residents regarding the value of trees and the importance of sustainable management of trees, (4) enhancement of urban forest management with innovative programs, improved ordinances, and increased emphasis on care and planting, and others.

Enjoying the Area

The beautiful beaches give outdoor enthusiasts a chance to take part in water sports, boating, fishing, or just relaxing near the water. There is also golfing, family parks, fine dining establishments, shopping, and a lot of entertainment.

Largo Attractions

Pinellas County Heritage Village
