Snell Isle Real Estate
Snell Isle real estate has its beginnings in 1900, when a druggist named Perry Snell, who had recently moved to St. Petersburg, began buying and developing residential properties for upscale buyers in the area. He also developed community areas like parks and neighborhood structures, as well as commercial buildings. In 1927 he developed a muddy waterfront area into what is now Snell Island. His gamble paid off, as he was able to sell over $7 million worth of lots in the area.
The St. Petersburg Women’s Club was a strong community organization in the area back in Perry Snell’s day. To help support the group, he built the group its own special home on Coffee Pot Bayou, to help entice the ladies’ club to make its headquarters on Snell Island.
This gorgeous, placid island offers a wealth of attractions for those who live here. Residents can enjoy museums and cultural attractions in nearby downtown St. Petersburg, as well as plenty of shopping and a choice of fine dining establishments.
