Treasure Island Real Estate
How did it get its name?
A very clever hotel owner buried and then "discovered" several wooden chests on the beach! He claimed that those chests contained "treasure!" Of course, news like that quickly spread, and the area became Treasure Island.
Homes & Condos on Treasure Island
Treasure Island homes and condos do indeed seem like a “gift” and “finding the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.” When buying one, you are able to take advantage of the gorgeous scenery, weather, and activities in a neighborhood of your choice with friendly neighbors and a large variety of activities. Every day and the weekends seem like a permanent vacation, even if it has to be enjoyed after you put in your hours of work.
You can choose from one, two or three bedroom homes or condos with first-rate features, some on private beaches or near public ones, with numerous community amenities that make you feel that you are at a resort. You are also close enough to all the “hot spots” and the fun that these popular barrier islands have to offer.
Outdoor activities on Treasure Island
The town’s location by the warm and gentle waters of the Gulf of Mexico and its three miles of sparkling and clean white sand beaches, nicknamed "Jewel of the Beaches," makes it perfect for sunning, swimming, collecting seashells, and water sports such as snorkeling, canoeing, parasailing, boating, surfing, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, and more. There is no big drop-off in the depth of the water, so you can walk out and wade a reasonable distance in the shallow water. You may see sea turtle nesting areas and dolphins occasionally swimming past close to the shore
For easy access to the restaurants, bistros, motels, and other businesses that make up the heart of the town, simply walk the mile of the Treasure Island Beach Trail.
You might want to end up at Gators Cafe and Saloon, called the "world's longest waterfront bar.” It is an entertainment hub with multi-levels that has a tasting room, a tiki lounge, and so much more. It is also accessible by boat.
The locals say that this location has the very best sunsets in the world!
The Beach Trolley gives easy access to the Pinellas County Beaches at convenient times and with reasonable rates.
